Swan Lake is a timeless love story with a mixture of emotions, magic, sadness, and romance. The story is depicted in four acts. The story is all about the price Siegfried as well as a beautiful princess Odette. The prince was under the curse of a sorcerer. Odette changes form into human and swan. During the day time, she is a swan and in the night she becomes a beautiful human. Odette lives in the lake of tears. When price and swan happen to meet they fall in love.
The evil sorcerer tries to harm them with his dirty tricks, which makes the story more interesting. The sorcerer has a daughter whose name is Odie. After her appearance storyline takes a turn and after many emotional impressions stories end with a happy ending.
There is a dispute about the original writer of Swan Lake, but it has an influence on Tchaikovsky. The very first version was composed by him. In some of the versions, we see all the four characters die at the end of the story whereas there are versions, which show a happy ending.
Themes Of Swan Lake:
Each ballet company has a different approach to present a theatrical dance where they modify things in their own style and stress on various understanding. In this story, the beauty and dynamic moves of a prima ballerina who plays the role of Odette are shown. It not only shows her to be sophisticated and graceful but also shows her to be uncomfortable in her human form. Like a swan, she remains calm in spite of her often feeling isolated at night.
It also shows the role played by Prince Siegfried in his own world away from his responsibilities. As a prince, his future has been decided and his unwillingness to accept things creates a revolt as he listens to his heart in search of love which is the main theme of the story as well as prevails throughout the ballet.
As usual, this story also highlights a fight between good and evil.
